Club History and Stories of Success
For such a relatively small town, Cirencester's WUMA Kickboxing club has amazingly continued to produce many top champions since the 1980s.
Instructors Tim & Terry Saxton both enjoyed competition success from an early age, well before they even contemplated teaching! Both still compete today, and have notched up British and European titles, as well as taking bronze and silver medals at the World Championships in the 90's. Tim finally earned World Champion status in 2006 winning in Malta. Other student successes include: Matthew Blackwell (2x World Champion), Jason O’Grady (European, British, and World Champion, also founder of his own sport karate association), Tony Evans (multiple British Champion) and our infamous World Champion youngster Ryan Embling. The club is featured regularly on the sport pages of The Wilts & Glos Standard, not only for it's competition success, but also for the high standard and commitment of the students. |
